Lux Awards 2011 - Recycling Award

Mark was awarded the Lux Award 2011 Recycling Award for CoBRA's achievements in saving Low Energy Light Bulbs from Landfill. This sixth national award for CoBRA in just four years was awarded by sponsor Recolight's CEO, Nigel Harvey, at a prestigious ceremony in Chelsea Football Club's Great Hall.
CoBRA SE100 Top 10

CoBRA has made the SE100 newcomers list for 2011/12. Coming straight in at No. 8, the SE100 tracks and reports on the leading social businesses from across the regions of the UK. Mark said, "The kudos this award will bring will help confirm CoBRA's place in the social marketplace and help to bring more awareness about the hard work this social enterprise has been doing for the last 4 years."
Reading Launch first UK CoBRA Bulb initiative

On October 7th, CoBRA Bulb was launched. The initiative in Reading was headed by Councillor Warren Swaine, lead councillor for the Environment (pictured left with CoBRA creator, Mark David Hatwood, alongside the Bulbstore mini collection receptacle) and is the first of many launches in the UK of the Community Bulb Recycling Alliance. Lord Henley, the Government’s Environment Minister, in an interview about the CoBRA Scheme said, “Energy efficient bulbs save energy, carbon and money but it is essential that people recycle them when they reach the end of their life. This initiative will enable people to take responsibility for light bulb recycling in their community and make the facilities much more widely available for householders to do so.”

In September 2010, Mark - a fellow of the
RSA
- won an RSA catalyst fund award. The RSA will continue its support of the scheme by informing its 27000 strong fellowship of CoBRA through its magazines and newsletters.

In 2010, Mark was chosen out of over nearly 200 applicants to receive an UnLtd Award, enabling him to drive the CoBRA Scheme to ever greater heights throughout the UK and to focus on awareness of the scheme’s benefits amongst local volunteers and environmental groups.
Cornwall Sustainability Awards 2009

Continuing with the CoBRA Scheme’s success, Mark was commended in two categories of the Cornwall Sustainability Awards 2010, presented by TV host Dick Strawbridge of the BBC’s “It's Not Easy Being Green”.
Green Apple Award 2009

In 2009, the CoBRA Scheme won two Green Apple Awards – annual awards given by the Green Organisation, an extension of the Chartered Institute of Waste Management (CIWM) – for the CoBRA Scheme’s growth and its new successes in Torbay. This is one of the few feeder schemes into the prestigious European Business Awards for the Environment.
National Greean Awards Winner 2008

In 2008, Mark was awarded a national ‘Green Award’ in the category ‘Best Green Campaigner’ for his achievements with the CoBRA Scheme in Cornwall. “The judges thought this was a great concept with an impact that has been scaled-up by using creative distribution channels. A great example of one person making a difference!”
