Q. What would be my responsibilities?
A. Simply to pick up the collected bulbs once the Bulbstore Mini is full and transport them to your local bulking up centre.
Q. How often would the Bulbstore Mini fill up?
A. On average they would fill every six to eight weeks, but this may vary depending on your area.
Q. Will I have to do any complicated paperwork?
A. No. CoBRA have devised a revolutionary pre-filled, downloadable consignment note form for you, so all you need do is sign and date the forms on each visit... simple!
Q. What happens if I go on holiday?
A. For a normal one, or two week holiday, that should be fine. We suggest you check your Bulbstore Mini just before you leave and again when you return. If you think you’ll be away for longer, just let us know and we’ll help you find a suitable solution for your location.
Q. Will I get paid for transporting bulbs?
A. No. If you were being paid, your actions would require a ‘Waste Carrier’s license’, so you will be acting purely as a volunteer on behalf of your community.
Q. Could I do this in conjunction with someone else?
A. Absolutely. You would both need to go through the ‘Sign-Up’ procedure - your helper putting in the same location as your own collection point. (N.B.: It is illegal to transport bulbs on behalf of your community without first being a registered user of the CoBRA Scheme or holding a Waste Carrier’s License.)
Q. What if I decide I don’t want to continue or can’t do it anymore?
A. In that event we would ask that you find someone in your locale to take over the responsibility of your Bulbstore Mini for you. If you cannot find someone yourself, we would do all we could to find someone for you so as not to lose this valuable community asset.
Q. I have another question that isn’t on this list, who should I contact?
A. You can either ring Recolight on 0845 601 7749 or CoBRA on 0845 4080337. Alternatively email us under:
info@CobraScheme.com. We will do all we can to answer it for you.
Q. How can I stay in touch with other CoBRA volunteers?
Q. Is CoBRA available in all areas of the UK?
A. If you live in England or Wales, you can sign up to the CoBRA Scheme right now! However, due to the cost of consignment notes in both Scotland and Northern Ireland, it is not possible to partake in the CoBRA Scheme there as yet. We are working on trying to get a cost-exemption in those areas for CoBRA Volunteers. If you would like to help with this process, you could lobby the Senior Environment officers in either area by download the following letters:
Scotland -
Northern Ireland Thank you for caring.
